Art of Freelance - Instagram Takeover
A couple months ago, I embarked on a journey to challenge myself and create a new series of artwork during lockdown. I created a total of 22 pieces of artwork thanks to Art of Freelance. If you haven't heard of Art of Freelance, I encourage you to check it out. It's a 10-week workshop built to help creative freelancers set goals, create a plan to accomplish them, and then do the work with the support, accountability, feedback, and community of other creative freelancers. The Spring session wrapped with Showcase presentations in mid-June and the next session will commence this Fall so keep an eye on their Instagram feed for details on enrollment. I've participated in the last five sessions, four of which I've led as a cohort guide. I wouldn't have come this far as an artist without the program and I'm truly grateful for the support and accountability it provides me.
Recently, the AoF team asked me to participate in an Instagram takeover for three days. It was a great opportunity to share my work with a larger audience and has motivated me to get my fine art site up and running.
I’m often inspired by the healing power of nature, the source of creation, evolution - from the tiniest cell or micro-organism to the greater cosmos. I primarily work with alcohol ink because I love the saturated colors and its fluidity - the transformative nature of the ink lends itself well to my artistic themes.
I use various circular forms to contain the ink and the result is not meant to be perfect but organic. The ink seeping out suggests bursts of energy, growth, metamorphosis. You may see undulating waves, geothermal formations, planets and galaxies, even something that resembles a petri dish. My goal is to inspire those who see my work to look at nature as a way to heal and transform as it has done so for me.
You can check out more of my work on their IG Feed. And stay tuned for the launch of my fine art website and shop coming soon!
